River Custom Canvas, LLC was founded on August 4th, 2014 by Barbara Huntington. The business is focused on serving boaters in the Thousand Islands Region of New York State and is located at 40616 Marina Road in Clayton.
Barbara has been sewing her entire life and started quilting in 1996. That was the same year that she and her husband started boating on the St. Lawrence River and began spending summers in Clayton. A few years later Barbara opened her own business selling supplies and teaching others to sew and make quilts. After 8 successful years she sold her business so that she could spend time with her grandchildren and travel with her husband.
Over the years on the river she did canvas repairs for her own boat and for a few others in the marina. She came to miss having her own business and it was her love of both boating and sewing that brought her to start her new business venture as River Custom Canvas, LLC.
Barbara fine tuned her canvas fabrication with specialized training from Mark & Deb Hood at Hood Marine Canvas Training in Merrimack, MA. Mark is a master craftsman with over 40 years in the marine canvas business. The skills learned from Mark and Deb have allowed River Custom Canvas to create bimini’s and enclosures that are far superior to most others.
As a former business owner, Barbara understands the importance of customer service. She will always return a customers call, even if it is to say that she can’t take the job, or that she can’t take it right now. She takes great pride in her integrity and the willingness to always exceed the customer’s expectations.
